Deviled Horned Ronnie James Dio by: Rockin Rodwell
Ronnie James Dio(Ronald James Padavona) was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, July 10, 1942. Ronnie was one of the best heavy metal vocalists and songwriters the US ever produced; if not the best. He had one of the most powerful voices in heavy metal. Ronnie played the french horn as a child citing this as how he developed proper breathing as a heavy metal thoroughbred singer; not ever taking vocal lessons.
Ronnie played with Elf, Black Sabbath, Dio and Rainbow which featured Ritchie Blackmore on guitar (my favorite guitar player)to name a few. One of the last songs Dio recorded was "Metal Will Never Die". Ronnie was named Best Metal Singer at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in 2010 for his work on "The Devil You Know". His signature song, which everybody has one, is Holy Diver from DIO's debut album. It is a metal classic from the word go.
Sadly Ronnie passed away May 16, 2010 at the age of 67 from cancer. Rock and heavy metal lost a dear friend.
Long Live Metal & Deviled Horns..........
