All You Need to Know About the Rock Hall of Fame

The Rock Hall of Fame is the Number One destination for rock fans all over the world.

With powerhouses like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and The Beatles, Rock and Roll music was born. Surely there must be a way to pay tribute to these Stars, along with all the others that have followed in their footsteps. This is partly what was behind the beginnings of the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

Located in Cleveland, Ohio, the Rock Hall pays tribute to the history of rock 'n' roll and beckons to the music lover in all of us. Its glistening glass structure reflects the shores of Lake Erie in the heart of the city. In 1995 the doors were opened and since there have been millions of visitors grace the floors of the Hall and Museum.

Exhibits and events change throughout the year so that you may enjoy the concerts (over one hundred annually) and objet d'art of the genre. The Rock Hall of Fame and Museum is also known for being an educational outlet, allowing others to learn and enjoy the world of Rock and Roll.

Starting as young as preschool, the little tikes can partake of the Toddler Rock program, while Rockin' the Schools is a program offered on-site to more than 50,000 students teaching the history and importance that Rock and Roll has had on society.

There is also a global program wherein kids and adults throughout the North American continent and Australia can thrive in the knowledge of the genre or locally adults can take a night course or two.

When you come to the Rock Hall of Fame, make sure you allow time to cruise through the seven floor structure with its 150,000 square feet. Perhaps you would be interested in the five to six hour guided tour or maybe the eighteen permanent exhibits depicting the stories and past of the genre. Some of which include Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Music of Ohio and R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

There are also six exhibits that rotate throughout the year as well as six interactive exhibits including where you can sit and listen to the five hundred songs that formed Rock and Roll. A multi-media experience awaits the visitor with films in five theatres, gallery, interviews, animated shorts and photography.

Honors are given to all levels of Rock and Roll to include the celebrated performers, writers and producers and even DJs. The Inductees are honored at an annual ceremony where toasting, boasting and merriment can be had.

Past winners of this honor include John Mellencamp, Madonna, Little Walter, R.E.M., Blondie and Black Sabbath. Once inducted, the artist's songs are played on the continually running jukebox and films are shown regarding their lives and accomplishments.

Right now an artist is eligible for the rock hall 25 years after releasing their first record. The rock hall is considering changing this to 20 years. Would this hurt Deep Purple's and others chances of getting in? The nominating committee is made up of around 30 music experts per say. Deep Purple were eligible in 1993, Slade and Alice Cooper in 1994 and KISS in 1999.

If you love Rock and Rock, its music and sensation, then you truly don't want to miss the Rock Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. It's a one-of-a-kind venture with memories to last a lifetime!
